GOLF: Masters Pool - Pick em' Carefully!

Been here all week in Augusta, GA., sorting through stats, bios and player performance charts in hopes of reaching a favorite to win this thing. Like all of us... I'm asked to pick a favorite or a handful of contenders. The more I talk... the more it changes. And the more I think.. the less inclined I am go with conventional wisdom.

His Time?
Picking Phil seems easy. But so did picking Ohio State, Pitt, Texas and Kansas... and my bracket turned into shambles in a hurry. In golf.... this has been the year of Mark Wilson and Jonathan Vegas and Gary Woodland and D.A. Points and Martin Laird. So given what we just witnessed in hoops... do it.... go against "chalk." Only 10 guys really have a chance to win, right? Ok... Anthony Kim's 40th in the world.. would it shock you to see him in green? Did you consider Immelman when he won.. or Zach when he won? Was Cabrera on your radar?

Great Putter - Big Key
I'm telling you... this VCU, Butler thing was a sign. It happened for you to win your Masters pool. So think Luke, or Kooch... Watney or Watson. Ernie's gotta win one at some point right? Whatever you do... don't let a Shell win cloud your thinking. Majors these days are a real "shell game"... and the pools too deep to be overly confident about anything.

All this being said.. there is one thing I will guarantee... Sunday's finale at Augusta will be far more compelling than Monday's NCAA final in Houston... with a whole lot more 3's made here... than there were there!  Who's your pick??????  And why????  Thanks for reading.

  1. Phil's my obvious pick along with Padraig. My long shots are Kaymer and Westwood. Who am I to say?

  2. With the strength of the young guns you would think they could pull one off but we all know experience there is key. I think Kuchar has a great opportunity if he gets on a roll.

    Marino
    Watney
