PERSONAL: Making A Holiday RUN At Crohns Disease

Hi Everyone... Hope your post Thanksgiving Holiday finds your resting a bit instead of running for your Holiday Shopping lives.  On Wednesday, in fact, I drove by Best Buy only to see what many of you have seen - I'm sure.  A few dozen people camped out in anticipation of the doors opening at midnight on Thanksgiving.  In other words, the hustle comes before the holiday.  Everyone's focused on something - right? :)

This is the season when people attempt to do good things for others - right?  Running through the stores is one way.  But here's another - which hits home in the Kann Family.

As I write this, my wife is on her own "run" - with no shopping bags, just a the hope of helping people in need. Next weekend in Las Vegas, she's running a half-marathon - which she's done before - but this one is different.

Our daughter Hailey
In April, our oldest daughter Hailey was diagnosed with Crohn's disease - an inflammatory disease of the intestines in which the body's immune system attacks the gastrointestinal tract. Crohn's tends to present itself initially in the teens and ...twenties and has no cure. Treatment options are restricted to controlling the symptoms and preventing relapse. Obviously we're not the only family faced with this - perhaps you know of others.

In addition to being a dedicated runner, Kimberly is also an amazing mother and a special role model to say the least.  THIS half-marathon benefits Crohn's... and comes with a clear purpose. The goal is to raise money, help awareness and fund research. Nine years ago my dad passed away from colon cancer which only adds to my/our personal interest in trying to make a difference. A few weekends ago we spent the day at a Crohn's Seminar to learn more and see how we can help others.

I'm providing a link to Kimberly's "FUNDRAISING WEBSITE". www.active.com/donate/vegas11centralfl/LVKKann

It provides details on Hailey, her disease and the more than 1.4 million Americans suffering from Crohn's and ulcerative colitis. It also allows you to make an easy tax-deductible online donation toward Kimberly's effort. I appreciate you taking the time to perhaps be a part of this GREAT cause and send my wife and her dedicated efforts to Vegas as the Top Fundraiser. (She's getting close)  As with any holiday giving - no gift is too small and your name will be posted on her web page.

I wish you all some relaxation today and throughout the holiday season.  Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

Kraig
