Merry Christmas - Share Gifts, Don't Sell Them

Hi everyone... yes, it's been a while.  No excuses will be made, but my mind and heart are in the right place.  Lots of sports going on during this holiday season.

Pryor Salesman?
But let's start with the latest debacle in college sports.  THE Ohio State University in the media spotlight right now... and its not for the Sugar Bowl match-up with Arkansas.  Apparently, some of the key Buckeyes went HOG WILD on a binge of some "re-gifting" to collect cash.  And the quarterback Terrelle Pryor is among five team members who will now sit out the first five games of the 2011 season because of the trouble.
Selling awards, gifts and apparel and receiving improper benefits is a no-no in the landscape of college football.  And after a Southeastern Conference Dad was tossed around in the media like crumpled up gift-wrapping paper for potentially and allegedly "gift-wrapping" his Heisman Trophy son to powerhouse schools, this is not what the bowl season was looking for.
This will not affect their participation in the January 4th Sugar Bowl... but its hardly a sweet bit of news to dance around during all the press-conferences in New Orleans.  As I've said many times on this site, in talks through my HTK MEDIA company that trains athletes, coaches and executives to handle media opportunities, and to other corporate groups...... these types of stories don't go away quickly.  The team is handled vary differently, covered differently and asked questions far away from the x's and o's.  It's uncomfortable and these schools business defends on how kids and coaches handle the direct and indirect questions that clearly have a direct agenda.
Heading to the draft some day... Terrelle needed a sack full of "Pryor" baggage like Santa Clause needs a subdivision full of log-burning chimneys on Christmas Eve.  Good luck.... we'd love to help.

On some other fronts:  I've got some news to pass along.

Great Year for Kann with Rymer
 * I have agreed on a new deal to work at Golf Channel in 2011.  The role will remain the same, hosting Golf Central Pre-Post Game shows, play a role in the network's Live From platform and will serves as the host of the Grey Goose 19th Hole.. which will have an expanded panel this year each week.  I'm very excited about it.

Kraig Kann... Hosting FB & Hoops
 * In addition, I've made it a goal of mine to "spread wings" a bit and get back into some of the other sports that I've covered over 25 plus years of sports broadcasting.  I've agreed to serve as Host for XOS Digital... which creates and delivers online and mobile serves for the SEC Conference, The Big East, PAC 10 and others.  I'll be hosting reports on SEC Basketball and Football in 2011 on select days - around my Golf Channel responsibilities.

* And perhaps more exciting, my year long efforts with HTK MEDIA Sports Consulting and Media Training are paying off.  After a year of making strong contacts and spreading our message, We've just inked agreements with a few new clients... and continue to work with folks we've helped this year.
*Point Across Media - we're partnering on projects in 2011, including a big golf venture that should
provide great benefit to all parties.

*Golf Club of Tennessee - we're headed up to Nashville, TN in mid-January to work with the staff
and give them a boost of energy in the media front.  Better speaking, more dynamic instruction,
branding concepts and creating a referral program that works.
*Little Linksters, LLC - we're serving as a consultant to help grow this small venture with enormous
potential into something that goes national.
      * KPJ Golf - Karen Palacios-Jansen is one of America's leading ladies in the teaching industry.  She
summoned HTK MEDIA to help take her to the next level on camera, delivering her instruction and
becoming a better speaker and a difference-maker to key clients.  Two days proved valuable and
helped land her a spot among the 3 finalists for the Golf Channel's
Kraig Kann with Karen Palacios-Jansen
        New Instructor Search.

* In addition, HTK MEDIA is hoping to continue working arrangements with key clients like Hilton Worldwide, Toyota, Mastercard, PGA TOUR Club and PGA TOUR Experiences, PGA Magazine and the PGA Sections around the country.

HTK MEDIA is engaged in talks with Universities like Mississippi State University, Tulane University, North Texas University to name a few.  Delivering our message, and helping student-athletes, coaches and executives become more "media smart"
is a big initiative in 2011.  And we're working toward relationships with Major League Baseball teams, NBA teams and future NFL stars who must succeed in combine interviews.  And as the founder of HTK MEDIA, and current Managing Director, I can promise a collection of veteran broadcasters who will add to your program and your experience.

* A big thanks to a few of HTK MEDIA's corporate partners in 2010.  Sprint, Bobby Chan Clothing, Uptime Techsultants, Websolvers, CSE Group and Allegra Marketing and Printing.

Yes, I have a message.
Speaking to many groups in 2010 has been extremely rewarding.  And the goal is to reach a higher level.. touch and teach more people with our message and work harder to make every deal fair, and every relationship last.

Exciting new clients are about to come on board... it could be you!  And look for HTK MEDIA's 2-day seminar in Orlando in February.  IF you're an athlete looking to get more media savvy, or a PGA Professional looking to take your teaching to the next level... this will be for you.  Promotion will come heavy on FACEBOOK, Twitter and this Blog.  For more information... contact me through our website.
