Golf's Version of Rangers vs Giants - Not Bad After All

First pitch of the World Series tonight!  Not thrilled with the Texas Rangers vs San Francisco Giants?  Wishing for the "big boy" NY Yankees and the Phillies?  You'll probably also go nuts if we end up with Oregon vs Boise State or even.... gulp..... Boise State vs TCU.
As sports fans we're always forced to adjust our thinking about what's compelling and what's good aren't we?  Ditto for the golf fans.

Jonathan Byrd's ace to win the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals Open on Sunday in a playoff may... or may not... have been the greatest shot to ever to win a PGA TOUR event.  But it sure wasn't bad given that "Yankee" Tiger and "Philly" Phil wouldn't sniff showing up at a Fall Series event ... even if the scent came straight from the United States Mint!
Appleby's 59 = Great Finish
This year... among other things in golf... we've had to "settle" for Rory McIlroy's Sunday 62 in Charlotte.... Bubba Watson's kick-in approach in the playoff at the Travelers... Stuart Appleby's "59" to win Greenbriar.... Matt Kuchar's super Sunday at the Barclays.... Rocco's win in a sea of dramatics at the McGladrey.... and now Byrd's hole-out-of-a-finish in Las Vegas.
In golf.... you can roll the dice every year wishing for Sundays filled with the Yankees vs Phillies.  But when they don't come up at the table... and you have to settle..... the Giants and the Rangers aren't too bad after all - are they?
